If you're an employee who works from home, you may be able to claim a deduction for expenses you incur relating to that work. These can include printers and consumables (e.g ink cartridges and toners).

To claim a work-related deduction as an employee you must have spent the money yourself and not have been reimbursed, the expense must be directly related to earning your income and you must have a record to prove the expense and purchase (usually a receipt or tax invoice).

There are three methods you can use to claim your working from home expenses and the ATO (www.ato.gov.au) provides guidance on these methods as well as record keeping requirements.
