Protecting your customer's most valuable information assets

In the digital age, we now live in, keeping customer data safe is a huge responsibility, as many businesses often choose to outsource certain services such as payroll, data analytics or print to other organisations.

As technology’s presence in daily life continues to expand, businesses must remember that the benefits of the digital age come with certain risks. The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) received approximately 94,000 cybercrime reports in the financial year 2023¹. In New Zealand, in the 2022/2023 year, the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) recorded 316 cyber security incidents², preventing an estimated $65.4 million in harm to nationally significant organisations in NZ alone. It’s no wonder that these security risks are such a hot topic in the boardroom.

What do SOC 2 Compliance Audits Cover?

Reports from SOC 2 compliance audits provide information regarding a service organisation’s controls covering the following trust services criteria:

Security, availability, and processing integrity of systems that the service organisation uses to process information.
Confidentiality and privacy of the information that a service organisation’s systems process

A SOC 2 compliance audit can issue two types of reports that cover a service organization’s controls:

Type 1 — for a point in time
Type 2 — for a period of time (e.g., several months)

Canon Group Company NT-Ware Completes SOC 2 Type 1 Audit

NT-ware, the Canon group company who develop uniFLOW Online, understand the criticality of securing customer data and the trust placed in its products and technologies. uniFLOW Online is a secure cloud print and scan solution which enables organisations to manage their entire print environment. With SOC 2 Type 1 compliance, NT-ware has yet again evaluated its systems and processes to reassure its customers that they can entrust their data to a reliable partner. According to company policy, NT-ware will continue to work consistently to implement the highest security and data protection standards in the products it creates and how it operates.

NT-Ware Achieved ISO 27017 Certification

After the first year of working under the ISO 27001 practice, NT-ware also achieved ISO 27017 certification. ISO 27017 is considered an addition to ISO 27001 and focuses on cloud compliance. As a security standard, it was developed for cloud service providers and users to make a safer cloud-based environment and reduce the risk of any security problems. With the certification, NT-ware successfully demonstrates its ability to fulfill the role of service provider of uniFLOW Online on the one hand and as a customer using cloud technologies like Office 365 or Jira by Atlassian on the other.

SOC 2 Type 1 Audits hold significant importance for businesses as they enhance customer trust, provide a competitive advantage, align with compliance requirements, mitigate risks & facilitate partnerships with larger organisations. Having passed both SOC 2 Type 1 and ISO 27017 audits, NT-ware and Canon further demonstrate their commitment to safeguarding customers from the severe consequences of data breaches.
