Auto Exposure Bracketing (AEB)

Using the exposure compensation setting, you can capture images at different exposure levels, and then select the optimal image later as shown in the example below. This is called AEB (Auto Exposure Bracketing) shooting.

You can set your camera so that the shutter speed and aperture value are changed automatically to capture three successive shots with exposure bracketing of ±2-stops in 1/3-stop increments.

How to set the AEB shooting

1. Set the power to ⋖ON⋗.

2. Press the ⋖INFO.⋗ button to display the INFO. Quick Control screen.

Press three times from the Live View screen.

3. Select exposure compensation.

4. Press the ⋖Main Dial⋗ to set the exposure compensation amount. If AEB is combined with exposure compensation, AEB will be applied centering on the exposure compensation setting.

Turn the ⋖Main Dial⋗ to set the AEB range.

5. When you tap ⋖⋗ to exit settings, the AEB level will be displayed on the LCD monitor.

6. Press the shutter button completely. The three bracketed shots will be taken in this sequence: standard exposure, decreased exposure, and increased exposure.

The way photographs are shot differs depending on the drive mode settings.

For [ ] (Single shooting)

Press the shutter button three times to shoot.

For [ ] (Continuous shooting)

When you press the shutter button completely, three photographs are shot continuously in the order of Standard Exposure → Decreased Correction → Increased Correction.

[ ] (self-timer with 10-sec.) and [ ] (self-timer with 2-sec.)

Three continuous shots are taken in 10 seconds or in 2 seconds.

When set to [ ]

Three times the set number of copies are taken continuously.

Caution

AEB cannot be used with flash, Multi Shot Noise Reduction, Creative filter shooting, and bulb shooting.
If [ : Auto Lighting Optimizer] is set to any setting other than [Disable], the AEB's effect may be minimal.

Canceling AEB

Follow steps 3 to 5 to turn off the AEB amount display.
The AEB setting will be canceled automatically if the power is set to ⋖OFF⋗, flash recycling is complete, etc.
