Recording Movies at Specific Shutter Speeds, Aperture Values, and ISO Speeds (PowerShot G7X)

Adjusting settings prior to recording

Set your preferred shutter speed, aperture value, and ISO speed.

The setting procedures are explained below.

1. Set the mode dial to ⋖Movie⋗ () and press the ⋖Power⋗ button to turn the camera on.

2. Press the ⋖FUNC./SET⋗ () button, press the ⋖⋗⋖⋗ buttons to choose [ Movie Mode] ()* in the menu, and then Press the ⋖⋗⋖⋗ buttons or turn the ⋖⋗ dial to choose [Manual] ()

* If the settings have not been changed, [ ] will be displayed as the default mode.

3. Configure the shutter speed, aperture value, or ISO speed, settings using the values displayed on the screen as a reference.

Turn the ⋖⋗ dial to set the shutter speed.
Turn the ⋖ ]⋗ ring to set the aperture value.

Press the ⋖ ⋗ button, choose ISO speed ()* in the menu, and choose the desired option

* If the settings have not been changed, [ ] will be displayed as the default mode.

Caution

With [AUTO] ISO, the exposure level mark moves when the shutter button is pressed halfway, showing the difference from the standard exposure level.

With ISO settings other than [ AUTO], an exposure level mark based on your specified shutter speed and aperture value is shown for comparison to the standard exposure level.

4. Press the ⋖Movie Button⋗ () to start shooting.

Changing Settings during Recording

Set your preferred shutter speed, aperture value, and ISO speed using touch operations. Settings can also be adjusted during recording.

1. During movie recording, touch the item you would like to change on the screen. (Shutter speed has been selected in the example image below.)

2. Touch [ ] or [ ] to specify a value.

Caution

Some shutter speeds may cause flickering on the screen when recording under fluorescent or LED lighting, which may be recorded.
Setup is not possible during recording by turning the ⋖ ⋗ dial or ⋖ ⋗ ring.

Caution

Exposure can be locked before or during recording by touching [ ].
Focus can be locked during recording by touching [ ]. [ ] is then displayed.
