Firing the built in flash

Solution

When the camera is set to one of the Creative Zone modes, you can press the [ ] button to fire the flash manually.

In the Basic Zone modes, the default settings of the camera must be changed.

The procedure for firing the built in flash manually when the camera is set to one of the Basic Zone modes is explained in the following sections.

Caution

The flash cannot be fired manually when the camera is set to one of the following shooting modes:

-[ ], [ ], [ ], [ ], [ ], [ ]

The position and shape of the operation buttons may differ depending on the model you use.

1. Set the camera’s power switch to [ON].

2. Set the camera to [ ], [ ], [ ], [ ], [ ], [ ], or [ ] mode.

3. Press the [ ] button to display the Quick Control screen. (The setting screen for [ ] is shown in the example images below.)

 

4. Press the [ ], [ ] keys to select [ ] (Auto flash), or [ ] (Flash off).

5. Turn the [ ] dial to select [ ] (Flash on).

The possible flash settings for individual shooting modes are shown in the table below.

* If you change the shooting mode or set the power switch to [OFF], functions will revert to the default settings.

Caution

If you use the built-in flash too often in too short a period of time, the flash may stop firing for a while to protect the light-emitting unit.
