How do I shoot movies? (PowerShot S120)

The details on how to shoot movies are described below.

You can press the movie button, and the camera will start recording movies automatically.

Please note that when the camera is used over an extended period, it may become warm. This does not indicate damage.

Caution

Keep your fingers away from the microphone while shooting movies. Blocking the microphone may prevent audio from being recorded or may cause the recording to sound muffled.
Avoid touching camera controls other than the ⋖Movie button⋗ () when shooting movies, because sounds made by the camera will be recorded.

Shooting standard movies (Standard)

1. Press the power button to turn the camera on.


2. The following screen appears.

The maximum shooting duration appears on the [LCD Monitor].

If it does not appear, press the ⋖⋗ button several times.


3. Point the camera at the subject, and turn the ⋖Zoom Lever⋗ to compose the shot.


4. Press the ⋖Movie Button⋗ () to start shooting.

When the camera starts shooting [Elapsed Time] and [Rec] appear on the [LCD Monitor].

Once shooting begins, take your finger off the ⋖Movie Button⋗ ().

When you recompose shots, the focus, brightness, and colors will be automatically adjusted.


5. Press the ⋖Movie Button⋗ () again to stop shooting.

Caution

The camera beeps twice as recording stops.
Movies will be recorded to the memory card.
Recording will stop automatically when the memory card becomes full.
Recording may stop even if the maximum clip length has not been reached on some memory cards. SD Speed Class 6 or higher memory cards are recommended.

Changing the movie mode to shoot movies (Super Slow Motion Movie)

You can change the movie mode to [Super Slow Motion Movie] () to shoot movies.

For details on the movie modes, please see the following table.

Caution

In the [Standard] (), and [Super Slow Motion Movie] () modes, you can press the ⋖Shutter Button⋗ to shoot still images when you are not shooting movies.

1. Set the ⋖Mode Dial⋗ to ⋖Movie⋗ (), and then press the ⋖Power⋗ button of the camera.


2. Press the ⋖FUNC./SET⋗ () button.


3. The following screen appears.

Press the ⋖⋗⋖⋗ buttons to choose [Movie mode] ().


4. Choose [Super Slow Motion Movie] ().

Press the ⋖⋗⋖⋗ buttons to choose [Super Slow Motion Movie] ().

Then, press the ⋖FUNC./SET⋗ button ().


5. If the following icon appears, the setting is complete.
