Attaching the tele-converter lens

This section provides the information about attaching the optional tele-converter lens to the camera.


Caution

To attach the tele-converter lens, you also need the Conversion Lens Adapter LA-DC58L (sold separately).
Before use, remove all dust or debris from the conversion lens with a lens blower brush.
Please note that the tele-converter lens is prone to fingerprints.
Do not face the tele-converter lens towards the sun or strong light. Peaking through the tele-converter lens at the sun or strong light may result in blindness.

1. Be sure the camera is turned off.


2. Hold down the ring release button () and turn the ring in the direction of the arrow ().


3. Align the [ ] mark on the conversion lens adapter with the [ ] mark on the camera, and then lift the ring off.


4. Align the [ ] mark on the conversion lens adapter with the [ ] mark on the camera, and then turn the adapter in the direction of the arrows until it locks.

To remove the adapter, hold down the ring release button and turn the adapter in the opposite direction.


5. Turn the lens in the direction of the arrow to attach it securely to the camera.

Specify the converter in the camera settings.



Caution

When using the tele-converter lens, firmly attach it to the camera. If it loosens and falls off, it may break and the broken glass may result in an injury.

Setting the camera

To use [IS Mode] function for shooting, after attaching the optional [TC-DC58E] tele-converter lens to the camera, change the settings of the camera accordingly.


6. Turn on the camera.


7. Press the ⋖MENU⋗ () button.


8. The following screen will appear on the LCD monitor.

Press the ⋖⋗⋖⋗ buttons to choose the [Shooting] () tab.

Press the ⋖⋗⋖ ⋗ to choose [Converter], and set it to [TC-DC58E].

Press the ⋖MENU⋗ () button.

There is no need to adjust the converter setting when [IS Mode] is set to [Off].
After removing the converter, always return the converter setting to [None].

Caution

Vignetting may occur (especially in the lower right) when the built-in flash is used.
Set the camera to maximum telephoto when using the teleconverter. At other zoom positions, vignetting may occur.
Use the LCD monitor to compose shots. The view through the viewfinder may be partially obstructed by vignetting.
Before use, remove all dust or debris from the conversion lens with a lens blower brush.
