During Live View shooting, Hybrid CMOS AF III may operate in combination with contrast AF depending on the shooting conditions and lenses used.
Subjects
The combined operation of Contrast AF and Hybrid CMOS AF III is more likely to occur when capturing images of dark, small, or low-contrast subjects.
Shooting settings and lenses
- When an AF point at left or right periphery is selected.
- If the aperture settings is smaller than f/5.6 (larger f/stop number than f/5.6).
- When using one of the following lenses or an extender.
Note that autofocus issues may occur with Contrast AF for lenses appended with '*' in the list below. When using one of the applicable lenses, it may take some time to focus or accurate focus may not be achieved.
