Delete Extra Copies of the Printer Driver

This page is for the PRO-1 with firmware version 2.000 or later.

Check your PRO-1 firmware version while referring to [ How to upgrade the firmware ], and upgrade the firmware if necessary before going through this page.

With the upgraded firmware, you can perform the following:

- Printing in the color hue (in the PRO Mode) that looks like the one on the monitor

- Reducing the Fine Art Paper margin (from 35 mm to 30 mm)

- Printing on Canvas paper

Caution

The latest version of the printer driver needs to be installed.

With Mac OS X v10.4, the above new features are not available.

Windows

The printer driver which you no longer use can be deleted.

When deleting the printer driver, first exit all programs that are running.

The procedure to delete the unnecessary printer driver is as follows:

1. Start the uninstaller

If you are using Windows 7 or Windows Vista, select Start menu -⋗ Control Panel -⋗ Programs -⋗ Programs and Features.

From the program list, select "XXX Printer Driver" (where "XXX" is your model name) and then click Uninstall.

If you are using Windows XP, select Start menu -⋗ Control Panel -⋗ Add or Remove Programs.

From the program list, select "XXX Printer Driver" (where "XXX" is your model name) and then click Remove.

The confirmation window for uninstalling the model appears.

Caution

In Windows 7 or Windows Vista, a confirmation/warning dialog box may appear when starting, installing or uninstalling software.

This dialog box appears when administrative rights are required to perform a task.

When you are logged on to an administrator account, click Yes (or Continue, Allow) to continue.

Some applications require an administrator account to continue. When you are logged on to a standard account, switch to an administrator account, and restart the operation from the beginning.

2. Execute the uninstaller

Click Execute. When the confirmation message appears, click Yes.

When all the files have been deleted, click Complete.

The deletion of the printer driver is complete.

Caution

Printer driver and XPS printer driver will be deleted when you uninstall the Printer Driver.

Macintosh

A Canon IJ Printer that you no longer use can be deleted from the printer list.

Before deleting the Canon IJ Printer, disconnect the cable that connects the printer to the computer.

The procedure to delete the unnecessary Canon IJ Printer from the printer list is as follows:

You cannot delete the Canon IJ Printer unless you are logged in as a user with the administrative right. For information about an administrative user, refer to the user's manual for the Mac OS.

1. Open System Preferences, and select Print & Scan (Print & Fax)

2. Delete the Canon IJ Printer from the printer list

From the printer list, select the Canon IJ Printer to be deleted, and then click -.

Caution

Even if a Canon IJ Printer is deleted from the printer list, you can re-register it automatically by connecting the printer to your computer.
