Recording Movies at Specific Shutter Speeds, Aperture Values, and ISO Speeds (PowerShot G9 X)

Solution

Set your preferred shutter speed, aperture value, and ISO speed.

The setting procedures are explained below.

Caution

Some shutter speeds may cause flickering on the screen when recording under fluorescent or LED lighting, which may be recorded.

1. Set the mode dial to [ ] and press the power button to turn the camera on.

2. Touch the [ ] icon () on the screen.

3. Touch [ : Manual ] from the displayed menu items to choose it.

4. Touch [OK] when the screen below is displayed to set the shooting mode.

5. When [ ] () is displayed on the right side of the screen, you can touch the icon to change the selected setting in the following order:

: [Shutter speed], : [Aperture], : [Exposure], : [ISO Speed]

Caution

: [Exposure] can only be set when the ISO speed is set to [Auto].

Caution

If the [ ] () icon is not displayed on the screen, please refer to the following procedure.

1. Press the [MENU] button.

2. Touch [ : Control Ring Settings].

3. Choose [Enable] on the [ Switch with ] screen.

6. After choosing the desired item in step 5, turn the ⋖⋗ ring to set it.

⋗ will be displayed on the selected item.

7. After you have completed the settings, press the ⋖⋗ button.

8. Press the ⋖⋗ button to start shooting.

Caution

During movie recording, you can switch the setting to configure.

: Touch [ ] to select the desired item.

: Adjust the value by turning the ⋖⋗ ring.

Caution

When ISO speed is set to [Auto], you can touch the exposure compensation bar before shooting to adjust the exposure.

When the ISO speed is fixed, an exposure level mark based on your specified value is shown on the exposure level indicator for comparison to the standard exposure level. The exposure level mark is shown as [ ] or [ ] when the difference from standard exposure exceeds 3 stops.
You can check the ISO speed in [AUTO] mode by pressing the shutter button halfway. If standard exposure cannot be obtained with your specified shutter speed and aperture value, the ISO speed is displayed in orange.
Focus can be adjusted during recording by touching [ AF ] (to switch it to [ MF ]) and then touching [ ] or [ ].
