pan focus
This results in the entire picture being in sharp focus. Pan focus is achieved with a small aperture hole (high f-number) to obtain a very wide depth of field.

panning
When shooting a moving subject such as a runner or car, shooting the subject with a slow shutter while tracking it with the camera will result in a blurred background. The moving subject will look still against a blurred background. This gives the impression of movement and the technique is called panning.
perspective
This refers to how different near and far objects look in a picture. With a wide-angle lens, near objects look very big, and far objects look very small. This effect emphasizes perspective in the picture.
photo paper
A type of high-quality printing paper suited especially for printing photos.
photo printer
A printer which uses an ink ribbon and heat to transfer (vaporize) the ink to the dedicated paper. By adjusting the heat applied to the ink, fine gradations can be produced.
Picture Style
Picture Style is the name of image characteristics incorporated in current EOS DIGITAL cameras to process the image. By selecting the Picture Style to suit the subject or photographic expression, you can easily obtain the desired color effects in the image. Six Picture Styles are provided in the camera: "Standard", "Portrait", "Landscape", "Neutral", "Faithful", and "Monochrome". You can also create your own Picture Styles. In the case of RAW images, you can use dedicated software to adjust the settings even after the picture is taken.
pixel
The digital camera's imaging sensor has very small, light-sensitive elements called pixels. It is also the smallest unit contained in a digital image.
pixel count
The number of pixels the imaging sensor has. Digital SLR cameras have a sensor with several megapixels which are now common to exceed 10 megapixels.
"Portrait"
This is a Picture Style to make skin tones lighter and softer. Ideal for portraits of babies and women.
