Covering an area greater than 300,000 square kilometres, the films will document traditional indigenous land management practises including traditional burning, cross-generational transfer of indigenous ecological knowledge, training of young people in traditional responsibilities of land management, and regular environmental monitoring of native flora and fauna.
The films will be produced by local indigenous filmmakers through PAW Media & Communication and will screen publicly in each participating community via local television broadcast.
To assist PAW Media & Communication in achieving these goals, Canon Australia has supplied: EOS 40D Enthusiast Kit and accessories including lenses, batteries and a hard case
The equipment provided by Canon Australia will enable the production of narrated slideshow films that will increase awareness of the benefits of Aboriginal land management and promote the sharing of unique indigenous ecological knowledge amongst different communities.
