Addressing security issues and risks
Printing, copying, faxing, scanning and management of documents may present a substantial risk to many areas within Government agencies. Canon has developed solutions to address security issues that can arise in the electronic management of documents.

Network connected Multifunction devices that have the ability to transmit information via a gateway to another organisation can present an unnecessary security risk, especially if a separate telephone line for fax services is also attached. However, with Canon MFDs, actions can be taken to ensure the security of your information is maintained while also maintaining user access to all functions of the device.

Canon is aware of the potential security risk in sensitive environments and has created solutions to ensure document security and compliance with policies such as DSD's ACSI33. The Canon solutions provide you with the peace of mind that your documents and printing requirements are secure.

Secure Print for MEAP
Secure Print for MEAP is a simple-to-use swipe card system for accessing print jobs from Canon imageRUNNER multifunction devices.

Canon's SecureSuite for MEAP provides ACSI33 compliance, especially when used in conjunction with MS Active Directory, Novell eDirectory or Sun's OpenLDAP.

When dealing with sensitive documents, this system only permits a document to be printed when its owner swipes an access card at the device. This means that no job is printed unless the owner is at the device to collect it. After printing, it returns to secure mode automatically.

Secure Print also controls scanning from the MFD, enabling the user to scan a document back to his/her own mailbox.

Secure Login for MEAP
Secure Login for MEAP allows you to to control access to your Canon MFD's, providing you with increased security over your device output with swipe card or password access control to the device for authorised users only.

Canon's Secure Login for MEAP software is a secure access system for the copy, scan, email and fax functions of an imageRUNNER multifunction device (MFD). It gives you the capacity to control access to the device for security, as well as track usage for accounting purposes.

Secure Fax for MEAP
Secure Fax for MEAP is a simple swipe card system for controlling who uses the fax function of a Canon imageRUNNER multifunction device. Integrated with Secure Login, Secure Fax for MEAP connects directly to a network fax server, eliminating the need for separate fax lines to the MFD, and ensures you are in control of documents leaving your office.

MEAP Explained
MEAP or Multifunctional Embedded Application Platform is a Canon proprietary technology that enables the functions of an imageRUNNER multifunction device to be customised to suit an organisation's process.

With this Java-based, open-platform technology, software applications such as Secure Login for MEAP can be installed directly onto an imageRUNNER and accessed from its touch-screen display.
