In line with kyosei, Canon has always had a very strong commitment to looking after its employees, customers and visitors. While we have had strong risk management processes in place to address hazards in our business, our approach has not always been systematic. During 2006, we embarked on a project to bring our systems up to the Australian and New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 4801. A new Health Safety and Environment Coordinator was appointed in New Zealand and a new Health and Safety Coordinator for Canon Australia was appointed to start in January 2008. We are aiming for independent certification of our system, beginning with Canon Australia in 2008.
