Sydney, 26 June 2008: Canon Australia has announced the appointment of Darren Ryan to the position of Assistant General Manager - Marketing, Consumer Imaging Products Group (CIPG). Mr Ryan replaces Stuart Poignand, who left Canon on June 3 to pursue new interests after 22 years with the company.
"I am very pleased that we have been able to make an internal appointment," said Allan Corder, Senior General Manager, CIPG. "Darren has been with Canon CIPG for the last two years as Senior Category Manager and has been a driving force in improving integration between marketing and sales to better meet consumer needs and improve outcomes for resellers."
In his previous role as Senior Category Manager, Mr Ryan focused on the successful marketing of Canon's CIPG products to consumers. Prior to joining Canon in 2006, Mr Ryan worked with IBM as the Group Marketing Manager for Global Small-Mid Business, where he was responsible for strategically planning and coordinating IBM's marketing across Australia and New Zealand.
As Assistant General Manager - Marketing, CIPG, Mr Ryan will be responsible for Canon's stable of leading consumer imaging brands, including IXUS and PowerShot compact digital cameras, EOS digital SLR cameras and PIXMA inkjet printers - all of which are the most-preferred brands in their categories today.

Mr Ryan completed a Commerce Degree, majoring in marketing and accounting from Bond University, Queensland, graduating in 1994.
