Canon brand moves up the Global Rankings
Canon's brand value has strengethened according to Global figures released recently.

U.S. business magazines Business Week and Fortune recently announced their latest global rankings. In Business Week's "Best Global Brands" ranking of the world's 100 most valuable brands, featured in the August 2 issue of the magazine, Canon finished in 35th place, up four places from last year. The company's brand value for 2004, based on how much the brand is likely to earn in the future, was US$8.06 billion, a 12-percent improvement from last year's valuation.

The July 26 issue of Fortune featured the magazine's "Global 500" list of the world's 500 largest corporations in 2003 in terms of revenues. Canon earned a 165th place ranking, up 13 spots from last year's 178th place finish, with revenues of US$27.6 billion.

In terms of profits, the company placed 104th with US$2,38 million, up 4 places from 108th last year. Within the "Computers, Office Equipment" industry, in which Canon was categorized, the company finished in fifth behind IBM in first place, followed in order by Hewlett-Packard, Fujitsu, and Dell Computer.
