Canon Australia Environmental Grant

Sydney, 23 October 2007 ? Canon Australia is pleased to announce the winners of the 2007 Canon Australia Environmental Grant.

The grant, now in its second year, assists environmental groups working within Australia by providing five successful applicants with Canon products of their choice, to the value of AU$5000.

Winners were selected from a list of 75 applicants from all over Australia. The 2007 Canon Australia Environmental Grant winners are:

  • National Parks Association of NSW (NSW)
  • 1st West Epping Scout Group (NSW)
  • Glen Huon Primary School (TAS)
  • EarthCollective (QLD)
  • PAW Media and Communications (NT)

The overall aims of each successful applicant differ greatly, including the recording of environmental issues on bush reserves and walking trails; educating children about the environment; communicating the benefits humans receive from the natural environment; protecting and conserving the condition of Sydney Harbour; and increasing awareness of the benefits of Aboriginal land management.

"We were amazed at the number of responses we received this year. Canon is proud to be able to offer assistance to companies that are actively committed to the environment and in doing so, ensure this outstanding work continues," said James Fewtrell, Assistant General Manager, Corporate Communications.

A wide range of Canon equipment will be provided, from digital still cameras and camcorders to interchangeable EF lenses, projection equipment and All-in-One printers.

"Environmental impacts are considered at all stages of a Canon product life cycle, from their development to their end of life," said Shuichi Tsukahara, Managing Director Canon Australia. "Not only can successful applicants be confident that they have the latest gear to do their jobs effectively, but they're also minimising environmental impact at the same time."
