Canon Australia appoints local dealers for new EOS C300 Digital Video Camcorder for high-resolution motion picture production

Canon Australia is proud to announce the appointment of Lemac and Videocraft as dealers in the Australian market for the recently announced EOS C300/C300 PL Digital Video Camcorder for high-resolution motion picture production. From today, Lemac and Videocraft will handle the sales, rental, service support and integration for the EOS C300/C300 PL and related lenses.

Launched in November 2011, the EOS C300/C300 PL Interchangeable-Lens Digital Video Camcorder and 4K Cinema Lenses form part of the new Cinema EOS System – a professional digital cinematography system that spans the lens, digital video camcorder and digital SLR camera product categories.

“The launch of the Cinema EOS System is a historic event for Canon and marks our full-fledged entry into the film and TV production industry,” said Canon Australia’s Managing Director Taz Nakamasu. “Given the significance of this opportunity and the specialised needs of the market, it was critical to partner with recognised leaders in providing solutions for cinema, TV, and broadcast fields. Lemac and Videocraft distinguished themselves and we are proud to be partnering with them.”

For the dealers, Canon’s full-fledged entry into the digital high-resolution production industry provides exciting opportunities for growth in a healthy market sector.

“The Cinema EOS System builds naturally on the strong base and reputation established by the EOS 5D Mark II digital SLR camera and the potential for the purpose-built EOS C300 digital video camcorder is enormous,” said Lemac’s National Business Development Manager Stuart Pointon. “The response we’ve hadsince launch is an indication of the success we can expect with this product and we’re thrilled to be partnering with Canon to offer this solution in Australia.”

According to Videocraft’s Sales Director, James Taylor: “The image quality of the EOS C300 is simply stunning, particularly in low light. This together with the compact, lightweight form factor and the flexibility of the modular design will make Cinema EOS a popular solution across the gamut of TV and motion picture production applications. We’re proud to be working with Canon to bring this solution to the Australian market and to be part of this next phase of growth in the industry.”

The EOS C300/C300 PL Interchangeable-Lens Digital Video Camcorder

The Canon EOS C300/C300 PL is an all new digital video camcorder available in two models: the EOS C300, equipped with an EF lens mount for compatibility with the wide array of more than 60 lenses that make up Canon’s current interchangeable EF lens line-up; and the EOS C300 PL, offering a PL lens mount for use with industry-standard PL lenses. The camcorder features a Super 35 mmequivalent approximately 8.29-megapixel CMOS sensor ideally suited for digital cinematography.

The 4K Cinema Lens Line-up

Canon’s Cinema EOS System features seven new 4K EF Cinema Lens models: four zoom lenses covering a wide zoom range from 14.5 mm to 300 mm—two models each for EF and PL lens mounts—and three single-focal-length lenses for EF mounts. All seven new lenses deliver exceptional 4K (4096 x 2160 pixels) optical performance and offer compatibility with Super 35 mm-equivalent sensors. Additionally, the three single-focal-length lenses can be used with cameras equipped with 35 mm full-frame sensors.
