1 March, 2011: Canon Australia today announced new additions to its PIXMA MX colour inkjet printer range: the MX376, MX436, MX516, MX715 and MX895. Designed to meet the ever-increasing productivity needs of home office users, the printers offer a compelling mix of features that optimise productivity, enhance creativity, and deliver seamless connectivity for those on the move - while maintaining high quality, efficiency and cost-effective ease of use. The new range brings to market Canon PIXMA’s most advanced and high-performance combined feature set at such a highly competitive price point. Each printer in the range offers high-speed print, scan, copy and fax capabilities together with a considered set of enhanced productivity, efficiency and ease-of-use features that meet the growing connectivity and time-saving needs of home office users.

“Canon understands that home office users increasingly need the kinds of feature capabilities traditionally found in commercial equipment,” said KC LU, Canon Senior Brand Manager – Consumer Print. “With this in mind we have enhanced our PIXMA MX Office Range to introduce a number of sophisticated features that deliver productive, hassle-free, creative printing in a convenient and affordable printer format, allowing users to tackle demanding tasks seamlessly and efficiently, wherever they are.”

Seamless connectivity

Recognising that home office users need flexibility and reliability, as well as high performance, the range offers a choice of WiFi and Ethernet connectivity. A WiFi connection (MX436, MX516, MX715 and MX895) allows a printer to be located in any convenient location and be connected via an existing wireless network without the need for extra cables. An Ethernet (MX516, MX715 and MX895) connection offers the ability to connect directly to a PC or wired network router. Both options allow multiple computers to share a single printer.

The new models allow users can print directly from USB and memory cards (MX516, MX715 and MX895) as well as from PictBridge-compatible cameras (MX436, MX516, MX715 and MX895), making production of high-quality images simple.

In the MX895 model, Canon has also included PIXMA CloudLink. Incorporating Google Cloud Print, this feature allows a user to send Google Docs and other content stored within a cloud service to the printer from anywhere using a web-enabled device.

To make image printing even easier, the inbuilt Online Album Photo Print feature allows hosted albums to be view on the printer's display and selected images printed without the need for a PC.

Canon has also incorporated the Easy-PhotoPrint feature for iOS and Android devices (MX436, MX516, MX715 and MX895) allowing direct printing of images and documents from compatible mobile devices, as well as enabling scanning direct to mobile devices.

Enhanced speed, high performance and quality

To ensure home office users obtain the best possible output, Canon has improved the quality and operating speed of all the printers in the range.

The MX895 and MX715 models offer a market-leading resolution of 9600x2400 dpi with microscopic droplets as small as 1 picolitre. A five-colour ink system using FINE (Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) technology delivers high-quality photo printing by using a market leading total of 4608 jet nozzles.

The models also offer fast document printing on plain paper, producing 9.3 impressions per minute (ipm) in colour and 12.5 ipm in black. A 6x4 colour photo can be delivered in approximately 20 seconds.

The MX376, MX436 and MX516 models offer a resolution of 4800x1200 dpi using a 2 picolitre FINE print head capable of delivering high-quality photos using a total of 1792 nozzles. The MX516 prints approximately 9.7 ipm in black and 5.5ipm in colour while producing a 6x4 photo in just 46 seconds1.

Ease of use

Canon has included an automatic document feeder (ADF) in each model across the range. This allows users to readily scan or copy multiple-page documents without needing to be near the printer.

The high speed auto duplex function (MX715 and MX895) has been extended to also cover copying and scanning, for immediate results. This allows double-sided pages of up to 35 pages to be copied or scanned to file without the need for constant user supervision to flip pages.

Ease of use has been further enhanced through the addition of a Dual-function display panel which gives ready access to all features and functions. Canon has also incorporated a number of eco-friendly features into the range, including reduced power consumption and CO2 emissions as well as the use of recycled plastics in construction.

A world of creative possibilities

To further boost the flexibility of the PIXMA range, Canon has introduced a number of additional creative features through creative software that give users new possibilities in creative printing. These include fun filter effects, such as fish eye and blur background, that can be added to images prior to printing; the ability to stop at a chosen scene and print still images from high-definition movie footage through the full HD movie print facility; and the ability to merge and print multiple frames into one.

The new Easy WebPrint EX feature allows sections of web pages to be selectively cropped prior to printing, reducing wastage and saving both ink and paper by ensuring only the information required is actually printed. Other features include access to Canon's Creative Park Premium web site from which innovative content from world-leading licensed properties can be downloaded and used.

The MX376, MX436 and MX516 models also feature a new Fast Front design for easy ink cartridge and paper loading, reducing maintenance time for users.
